Our appointment
As JTRE London’s chosen advisors, BFY Carbon Strategies is working closely with the pre-construction project team to implement best practices that align with post-construction Net Zero Carbon in Operation (NZCIO) principles, ensuring compliance with sustainability frameworks such as BREEAM and NABERS standards.
BFY Carbon Strategies will oversee the technical aspects of the project across the RIBA stages, from reviewing consultant designs to validating Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) contractor compliance and post-construction commissioning.
Craig Needham, Director at BFY Carbon Strategies, said: "Our role is to be custodians of the vision for 220 Blackfriars Road, ensuring their NZC objectives are embedded throughout the project lifecycle. We are proud to support JTRE London in delivering a project that not only meets their sustainability goals but also contributes to the wider environmental aspirations of Southwark Council."
About the development
The £400m development of 220 Blackfriars Road, a landmark project, when completed it will deliver a 22-storey office building comprising 224,000 sq. ft. of grade A offices, attractive roof gardens and a new food and beverage offering, whilst a second smaller tower, at 15 storeys, will encompass 64 Almshouses with landscaped gardens, charity hub and community hall.
The project will create an exemplar development that will allow Southwark Charities to continue to provide truly affordable residential homes on some of London’s most expensive real estate.
